Inviting District 2 Youth to Meet Representatives
The Office of Commissioner Michelle Long Spears is excited to announce the first-ever Youth Civic Engagement Town Hall, hosted by Troop 18 of Scouting America. This event will provide a platform for youth across the community to meet local leaders and learn about civic engagement in a welcoming, non-partisan environment.
"Empowering young people to engage in civic matters is key to building a stronger, more inclusive future,” said Commissioner Michelle Long Spears. “I am honored to join Troop 18 in this important event and look forward to hearing the ideas and perspectives of our youth. Together, we can create positive change.”

- 7 - 8 p.m.: Q&A with Commissioner Michelle Long Spears, Representatives from the office of Super District 6 Commissioner Ted Terry, and School Board Member Whitney McGinniss
"It’s exciting to be a part of something that helps us understand how the government works and gives us a chance to ask questions,” said Tenderfoot Scout Alaric Watkins, who will introduce Commissioner Spears. “My Troop and I are really proud to be part of this event."
Samuel Parker Short, president of the Young Democrats of Georgia, known for his viral performance of Kendrick Lamar’s "Not Like Us," will deliver a welcome, encouraging youth to get involved in their communities.
Babysitting services will be available for families with younger children in the playground.
