The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, Commissioner Michelle Long Spears and Atlanta-based artist Jermaine Clark will unveil a new mural on Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at Mason Mill Park, 1346 McConnell Drive, Decatur, Ga. The event will take place under the bridge on the South Peachtree Creek Trail.

This mural is the result of a series of public engagement meetings curated by the community and artist Jermaine Clark. The project was completed in four months and made possible through the DeKalb District 2 Park Bond. The new public art will play an important role in amplifying park beautification and inclusion.

"The creation of this mural has been a truly collaborative effort, reflecting the values and diversity of our community,” said DeKalb County District 2 Commissioner Michelle Long Spears. “I love public art because it not only beautifies our shared spaces but also tells the story of who we are. This mural is a testament to our commitment to inclusion, creativity, and community spirit."

The public is invited to join county officials and parks staff for the ceremony. After the mural unveiling, attendees are invited to return to the park pavilion for an update from Commissioner Spears on action items and her agenda from the past year.
