Commissioner Larry Johnson Speaks at the State Capitol

House Study Committee on Regulation, Affordability and Access to Housing
 

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson, in his role as the District 3 Commissioner, will speak at the Georgia State Capitol to the House Study Committee on Regulation, Affordability and Access to Housing. 

Commissioner Johnson was asked by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) to address the housing issues in DeKalb County. As the Chair of the Planning, Economic Development & Community Services Committee (PECS), Commissioner Johnson has held special called PECS meetings and brought together, federal, state, and local leaders to collaborate, share insight and create a framework from experts as DeKalb continues to tackle the housing crisis.

“It is imperative that we get this right and working together with our federal, state and local leaders will only help us as we move forward and develop the best possible policy for addressing these issues around housing”, said Commissioner Larry Johnson.

During Commissioner Johnson’s speech he will address the following topics:

  • issues with increasing investor-owned properties and the impact that has on housing/rent affordability
  • how DeKalb is trying to address the housing shortage
  • what laws would you like to see changed
  • how design standards are important
