Licensed therapist and coach Chantel Cohen to be featured guest
DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a powerful and unfiltered discussion on the dynamics of life, mental health, wellness, managing relationships and the power of thought.
The virtual “Fireside Chat on Women's Mental Health” will take place today, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m. and will feature Chantel Cohen, a licensed therapist and executive business and communications coach.
According to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted by the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 8.1 percent of Americans aged 20 and over had depression in a given two-week period, in which women (10.4 percent) were almost twice as likely as were men (5.5 percent) to have had depression.[1]
In addition, research compiled by Frontiers Global Women’s Health found that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected women more than men, both as frontline workers and at home, due in large part to 70 percent of the health workforce being made up of women and a lack of adequate domestic and emotional support.[2]
“As a woman, I feel it is important we support each other and have critical conversations only we can sphere-head and steer,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson. “As a result of COVID-19 and social distancing, many have experienced career changes, adversity, shifts in incomes and other life changing circumstances. So, there has never been a greater time to come together.”
Chantel Cohen is the owner of CWC Coaching and Therapy, a minority-owned and operated practice, that has seen over 1,000 clients and has extensive experience with individuals who have anxiety, ADHD and depression.
The “Fireside Chat on Women's Mental Health” is made possible through the 305 Georgia Grant for Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC) as well as Native and Latinx populations. Registration is required and can be completed by visiting https://bit.ly/30131cx.
“I encourage women everywhere to join us from the privacy of their home with their favorite warm beverage as we have a powerful and candid conversation designed to help us all in our daily lives,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson.
