For the past 16 years, DeKalb Watershed Management has sponsored the Art Calendar Contest. The contest aims to promote awareness of the importance of water for a healthy way of life and sustainable future. This year’s theme is “How Can Water Keep Us Safe.”
All DeKalb County elementary students in public, private, parochial and home schools were invited to participate. Students between four and 11 years old, and from 15 schools submitted artwork; and 12 winners were selected. The winning drawings hail from Fernbank, Henderson Mill, Idlewood, Stoneview and Vanderlyn Elementary and a home school.
The calendar cover winner is Damaris Molina-Perez of Stoneview Elementary and the monthly winners are: Vikramjit Chowdhury; Prisha Garg; Lance Ignacio; Lisa, Karen and Sarah Jin; Maddox Ludwig; Mihir and Nikhil Muktinutalapati; Karis Taddese; and Arthur Wang. All 12 students were recognized at the Jan. 26, 2021, Board of Commissioners meeting by way of a DCTV video presentation.
