Commissioner Bradshaw Allocates $25,000 to R.I.S.E. UP Youth Services Program

DECATUR, Ga.—DeKalb County Commissioner Steve Bradshaw has allocated $25,000 of District 4 reserve funds to R.I.S.E. UP, a young men’s leadership development program, which will target District 4 middle school boys.

“I am pleased that ‘Fantastic’ Freedom Middle School in Stone Mountain was identified for the R.I.S.E. UP program for 2019-2020,” Commissioner Bradshaw said. “When I hosted my Quarterly in the Fourth Community Breakfast meeting at Freedom Middle School in May, I found the school’s principal, Dr. Marchell Boston, and his administration to be engaged with their students and doing great things with the community to improve the quality of education for his students.”

R.I.S.E. UP is designed to provide middle school boys with weekly training, teambuilding and networking activities as well as a community of support to prepare them to be leaders. Trainers and presenters include DeKalb County’s Office of Youth Services’ staff, DeKalb County's elected officials and community partners.

“I look forward to attending the first R.I.S.E UP graduation ceremony in District 4 in the spring of 2020,” Commissioner Bradshaw said. “The community will be invited to celebrate with us as well.”
