DeKalb Emergency Management Agency Encourages Residents to Sign Up for CodeRED

DECATUR, Ga. – More than 3,000 residents and 94 businesses signed up for DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency's (DEMA) CodeRED during the Sept. 14 boil water advisory.

CodeRED is an opt-in emergency notification system that provides rapid messaging to residents and businesses about emergency events within DeKalb County. The communication system allows public safety personnel to notify residents and businesses by telephone, text message and email.

Currently there are approximately 200,000 residents and 41,000 businesses signed up for DeKalb's CodeRED messaging.

To ensure DeKalb County emergency notifications and weather warnings, DEMA encourages citizens and businesses to sign up for CodeRED, to receive.

Residents will be asked to give a physical address through the CodeRED register portal. Once the address is given, only critical and time-sensitive events such as boil water notices, emergency evacuation notices, severe weather warnings and shelter-in-place notifications are sent to the registered user.
