DeKalb Collects 55 Tons of Debris After Hurricane Michael

DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County crews removed 55 tons of debris and reopened 40 roads and cleared more than 40 downed trees after remnants of Hurricane Michael hit DeKalb Wednesday night.

DeKalb Emergency Management Agency, county departments and public safety first responders worked around the clock Wednesday through Friday to ensure the safety of DeKalb citizens.

“We recognize the hard work and dedication of DeKalb employees who worked tirelessly to clear DeKalb’s roadways and keep residents safe,” said CEO Michael Thurmond.

DeKalb County only removes trees in public rights of way. Citizens requesting help on private property should call 404-294-2900 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
