DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) is encouraging residents and business owners to prepare themselves and their families during September as part of National Preparedness Month. This year’s theme is “Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.”
DEMA is part of a nationwide preparedness coalition that inspires residents to be prepared for any natural or man-made disaster.
“Preparendess starts with each individual,” said DeKalb County Emergency Management Director, Chief Sue Loeffler. “We can learn how to be prepared and be able to take action to ensure our homes and workplaces are ready for disasters and emergencies.”
During September, DEMA will participate in preparedness activities and events throughout the county. DEMA will also share information on social media on how to prepare, plan and stay informed. Residents are encouraged to follow DEMA on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Nextdoor to stay up-to-date on preparedness at http://www.dekalbcountyga.gov/dema/social-media.
