Lots of Treats for Pint-Sized Sanitation Worker on Halloween

DECATUR, Ga. — Maddie Middour, 2, was set on being a sanitation collector for Halloween. Costume in mind, her parents, Owen and Lauren, went all in, building a Maddie-sized DeKalb County sanitation truck and decking the entire family out for the theme.

“She wanted to be Mr. Gilly, a trash collector from one of her favorite books,” said Lauren. “She sees us take the cart to the curb each week, and always asks if Mr. Gilly is coming whenever we take the trash outside.” Lauren estimates it took 10 to 15 hours to complete the cardboard truck. Lauren and Owen donned trash bags, and Maddie’s sister, Abigail, joined the fun dressed as Oscar the Grouch.
