DECATUR, Ga.— Non-essential DeKalb County government personnel are not required to report to work Friday, March 31, due to the collapse of a section of I-85.

The collapse occurred after a major fire between I-75 and GA 400.

In DeKalb, traffic on I-85 South is being diverted onto Exit 93/Shallowford Road. Lanes are expected to remain closed indefinitely, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

All classes in the DeKalb County School District will be closed Friday, with 12-month employees reporting to work.

Workers who are able to telework are asked to do and all residents are urged to stay off the roads as much as possible.
