DECATUR, Ga. – WorkSource DeKalb and Georgia Piedmont Technical College are partnering to host the annual Returning Citizens Career Readiness Expo on Thursday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Georgia Piedmont Technical College’s Conference Center, 495 North Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston, GA 30021. The event was previously scheduled for Wednesday, March 7.
The expo will equip citizens who have recorded arrests or served prison time with the knowledge and resources to overcome barriers to employment, education and economic development.
This event will feature a series of workshops including the following topics: expungements and pardons; The Offender Parolee Probationer State Training Program (TOPPSTEP); The Federal Bonding Program; Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC); résumé writing; dressing for success; interview skills; networking; overcoming barriers for youth, female and veteran ex-offenders; and transition and re-entry resources.
After completing the series of job-readiness workshops, candidates will be referred to the DeKalb County 2018 Job Fair and Records Restriction Summit to pursue employment opportunities.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required due to limited seating.
