DECATUR, Ga. – On Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m., DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold an official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the county’s newest path, South Peachtree Creek Trail. The ceremony will be held near the entrance of the Mason Mill Park tennis court, 1340 McConnell Drive, Decatur, GA 30033.
The South Peachtree Creek Trail winds through Mason Mill Park as a boardwalk along the banks of the creek. The trail connects the ball fields and parking area at Medlock Park to the historic Decatur Waterworks and the park’s tennis center. DeKalb County and PATH Foundation have partnered to develop the trail and future plans call for expanding the trail to Emory University and providing bike and pedestrian access directly to the campus.
The public is invited to join county officials, parks staff and PATH Foundation representatives at the ceremony. Immediately after the ribbon-cutting, Super District 6 Commissioner Kathie Gannon is inviting attendees to participate in a group walk on the new trail.
