CEO’s office, police department get new public information officers

DECATUR, Ga. – There are new public information officers in the DeKalb County CEO’s office and police department.

Andrew Cauthen, the former managing editor of The Champion Newspaper, is a new public information officer in the DeKalb County CEO’s Office. Cauthen, a journalism veteran whose career began in 1990 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., covered DeKalb County government for more than five years at The Champion where he served as managing editor for two years.

Shiera Campbell, who worked as a public information officer in the CEO’s office for nearly two years, has moved to the same position in the DeKalb County Police Department. Prior to coming to DeKalb County, Campbell worked for seven years as the communications producer for the City of Rochester, N.Y., and was a news reporter for the ABC News affiliate in Rochester.

In their respective roles, Campbell and Cauthen will be responsible for writing and distributing news releases and media advisories, and handling media inquiries and requests.
