DeKalb to Host Breast Cancer Run/Walk Oct. 22

Partners are ‘Uniting DeKalb for a Cure’

DECATUR, Ga.—DeKalb County Interim CEO Lee May, along with The American Cancer Society and Northlake Mall, will host the 2016 DeKalb Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Run/Walk on Oct. 22.

The walk route will begin and end at Northlake Mall, located at 4800 Briarcliff Rd NE, Tucker, GA 30345. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The theme of the run/walk is ‘Uniting DeKalb for a Cure,’” DeKalb Interim CEO Lee May said. “October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this event is DeKalb County’s way of supporting those who have been impacted by this disease.”

Immediately following the walk, there will be a health fair that will include healthy cooking demonstrations, health screenings and various healthcare vendors.

All proceeds from the 5K walk/run will benefit Oakhurst Medical Center.
