The DeKalb Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) Community Outreach program is a needs-based initiative that provides DeKalb County residents with essential preparedness resources, including disaster awareness education and weather radios. As your friendly neighborhood Emergency Managers, DEMA is committed to helping our community stay informed, prepared, and resilient before, during, and after emergencies.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Train to Help Your CommunityCERT training equips everyday citizens to be more prepared for emergencies and to assist their neighbors during disasters when professional responders might not be immediately available. It's a train-the-trainer program, empowering you to educate and prepare your community.

What CERT Training Covers:

  • Disaster preparedness and planning
  • Fire safety and utility controls
  • Disaster medical operations
  • Light search and rescue techniques
  • Team organization and management
  • Disaster psychology and stress management
