More than 650 to Attend CEO Thurmond’s Eighth and Final State of the County Address

DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond’s eighth and final State of the County address business luncheon is sold out, with more than 650 tickets purchased for the event on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

CEO Thurmond will present his 2024 State of the County address titled “Lessons Learned” and will also share his vision for DeKalb and the state of Georgia.

“DeKalb County continues to be a thriving place for businesses and residents alike,” said Michael Paris, president and CEO of the Council for Quality Growth. “We’re excited to showcase the newest economic engine here in DeKalb for CEO Thurmond’s outgoing address. The Council commends the leadership of Michael Thurmond during his tenure as CEO and looks forward to celebrating his successes alongside the promising future in DeKalb.”

Three local leaders will be recognized for their community contributions during the program, including:

  • Elizabeth Wilson, former mayor of Decatur
  • Cynthia Jones Parks, president and CEO of Jones Worley
  • Monica Maldonado, president and CEO of IPCOMM

Local business leaders and community partners will attend the luncheon hosted by the Council for Quality Growth and DeKalb Chamber of Commerce.

The program will be available via livestream on DCTV’s UStream channel at DCTVChannel23.tv.
